Charitable Care for the Animals of Veterans

Now Available to Veterinary Practices Only

The Harold Wetterberg Foundation has made a generous donation to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation to support the medical care of dogs and service animals for military veterans who are clients of an enrolled VCCF practice. Applications will be accepted only from veterinary practices on behalf of clients that are veterans with dogs or service animals. Individual pet owners are not eligible to apply.

It’s very likely that some of the grants you’ve applied for through the AVMF Veterinary Care Charitable Fund have been for the charitable care of dogs and/or service animals owned by veterans. We thank you for your support of those who have served our country. Enrolled practices now have the opportunity to request a grant for full or partial reimbursement for medical care they provide to their military veteran clients without having to utilize the funds in your VCCF account.

If you have provided services for a patient of a military veteran and choose to apply, please utilize this grant application versus the online application that is normally used to submit grants for reimbursement.

Please note the following grant reimbursement guidelines:

  • Eligible grant requests up to and including $1,000 will be covered at 100% without any funds being deducted from your account balance.  Any cost above this amount will be deducted from the available funds you have in your VCCF account.

The Harold Wetterberg Foundation has limited this program to dogs and professionally trained service animals. The AVMF is not able to approve any grant through this program outside of those parameters as we must follow the donor intentions in the utilization of these funds. Funds are limited and will be distributed as they are available.
